You can go for the certifications from a computer technology institute or you can go for the Microsoft certified desktop support technician before you join in as the help desk engineer. By thorough understanding of the products you will be in a better position to get the job of the help desk engineer. Salaries given to help desk engineers differ from country and places. In New York the average salary varies from $45,000 to $1,000,000. Similarly in developing nations the salaries range from US $15,000 to US $60,000.
