OPERATIONS ADMINISTRATOR - MECHANICSBURG, PA
SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the IT Manager, the Operations Administrator will lead technical operations for the corporate data center and ensure that the entire system operates efficiently.
Essential Functions:
Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential functions listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required with or without reasonable accommodation.
Administer System security and access control in Oracle and Windows: Create user accounts, administer rights, manage system access and passwords, expire accounts.
Change Management: Responsible for the transfer and/or back out production program, data and job files.
Must maintain accuracy standards for development staff including document system changes, upgrades, and configurations.
Maintain and monitor network hardware for performance including shutdown and recovery.
Lead the enterprise-wide backup process and maintain onsite and offsite libraries.
Monitor data center systems for connectivity problems to remote telecommuters and all corporate sites.
Assist with research, planning, purchasing and implementation of new systems including installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting software and hardware.
Optimize performance and distribution of system resources to ensure that all jobs are accommodated with no impact to user demands on the system.
Monitor storage capacity
Key participant in audits (both control and security)
Maintain inventory of company wide computing assets.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery procedures for large scale recovery of all systems in the event of loss of facilities.
Maintain infrastructure: routers, hubs, switches, cabling, uninterruptible power supplies. Coordinate space planning for the data center.
Assist with system updates and password changes as directed by a Systems Administrator.
Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot system printers.
Recommend hardware upgrades and enhancements; oversee vendor maintenance and equipment installations and contracts. Issue Purchase Orders for computer equipment and maintenance parts.
Schedule and perform periodic preventive maintenance.
Document and maintain IT Department Computer Operations Procedures and Security Policies. Maintain System Event logs and other production documentation.

Physical/Environmental Working Conditions:
General office environment is primarily sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: standing, sitting, walking, reaching, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
The employee must be able to setup computer equipment, which includes occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, some walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing stairs.
Exposure to LCD on a daily basis.
A moderate noise level is usual.
Education:
BS/BA degree in computer science or related field preferred and/or two years of college and additional training in computer specific applications required.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 5 years experience working in an operations environment with training in midrange computer maintenance/system management.
Two to five years experience in MS Windows Administration, Enterprise Backup Systems, Windows/Exchange Server Administration, MS Windows Configuration, PC Software and system maintenance preferred
Skills Required:
Knowledge of Oracle Security and Access Control Management.
Ability to be conversant in technical terms and concepts and to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Flexibility to take on new and diverse assignments and projects when necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Proficient MS Office skills for developing and maintaining databases.
Some knowledge of network cabling and electrical systems.
