Belcan Government Services has an immediate opportunity as a Help Desk Technician/ IT Generalist located in Washington, DC! This position is a full-time direct position with benefits.


Provides a high level of customer service support for office automation applications, personal computers, and printers. Monitors servers and systems. Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies. Interviews user to collect information about problem and leads user through diagnostic procedures to determine source of error. Logs and tracks calls using problem management database, and maintains history records and related problem documentation.

*Diagnoses reported hardware, software, and network problems.

*Resolves or repairs if possible and contacts additional technical support as necessary.

*Provides procedural guidance, demonstrates, and provides direction on various systems.

*Continues to improve technical expertise through the identification of new technical alternatives to resolve problems and/or general improvements.

*Accurately documents and reports problems to technical staff for resolution.

*Accurately documents solutions and fixes and disseminates them accordingly

*Performs departmental administrative duties as assigned, such as generation and tracking of purchase requests, maintenance contracts, staff data, and departmental policies and procedures.

*Provides conference calling, fax and E-mail directory support through the use of multiple platforms and applications.




Required Skills:

*3 years prior help desk support experience

*Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

*Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills; ability to function well under pressure

*VMWare VSphere VCenter

*Active Directory experience

*Windows Server experience

*Providing support for Windows 7 and 10 Clients

*Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP; general networking skills

*Ability to travel to/from various local BGS locations as needed (~20%)


*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience

Certification Requirements:

*Microsoft Certification/s

*CompTia*s A and or Network or equivalent experience

Desired Skills:

*ServiceNow experience desired

*Exposure to Dell switches

*SSL certificate installation and renewal experience

*Exposure/experience configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls

*Linux Server Administration

*Cisco Router/Switch/ASA/WLAN experience

*Splunk experience

*WSUS administration
